Welcome to Nienburg!

We'd like to invite you to join us on a little tour around our hometown!

Nienburg is a small town in northern Germany, halfway between the cities of Bremen and Hanover. It has a population of about 30,000 inhabitants. Nienburg is very picturesque and there are a lot of old buildings and many lovely sights. Please have a look!!

Our tour starts at a museum that is right next to our school. It's called "Fresenhof".

Let's continue our tour. All the sights are at a walking distance from our school. Our next stop is the public library, it's in a building called "Posthof".

The statue "Die kleine Nienburgerin" is behind the "Posthof".

Please listen to the chimes mentioned in our video about "Die kleine Nienburgerin"!

It's just a few footsteps from the "Posthof" and "Die kleine Nienburgerin" to Nienburg's main church, the "Pfarrkirche St. Martin".

Nienburg's oldest house was built in 1495. It's a studwork house, that's a construction style typical of Nienburg and of our region. It looks like this:

Nienburg's townhall is also in a beautiful building. Please have a look!

There's another museum in downtown Nienburg, the "Polizeimuseum" (police museum). If you ever happen to be in Nienburg, don't miss it!

Nienburg is well-known for its asparagus and it's said that Germany's best asparagus is from our town. Therefore a fountain showing people cleaning and selling asparagus was built in 1998.

Every year the "Spargellauf" (asparagus run) takes place in Nienburg's centre. It's a big event and everybody can take part in the run. There are races of different distances for all ages. Here are a few impressions from this year's run:

This is a photo of this year's "Spargelkönigin" (Miss Asparagus). Every year a girl is picked to be Miss Asparagus and she represents Nienburg in many events in the course of the year.

Nienburg has a very picturesque town centre and there are many small alleys. This is one of them we went through on our way to the river Weser.

And here we are on the bank of the river Weser.

The city park is just a stone's throw away from the river Weser. It's a lovely place, most of all in the summer when it's hot.

There is also a monument to the people of Nienburg who died in WWII.

The "Stockturm" is a part of Nienburg's former town wall. It's the only part that is still there today.

The last stop of our tour through Nienburg is at the theatre.

A little creek called Meerbach is right next to the theatre. There is a restaurant above it.

This was our tour of Nienburg. We hope you enjoyed it and we think Nienburg is worth visiting!

Bye-bye!! - Tschüß!! - Hei hei!!
