Marion-Dönhoff-Gymnasium

Hello! We are class 6b from Marion-Dönhoff-Gymnasium in Nienburg/Weser, Germany, and we take part in this awesome eTwinning project together with our English teacher, Mrs Volkhausen.

First of all, we would like to welcome you to our school! Please take a look at the following photos, video clips and texts and see what we and our school look like!

This is us, class 6b from Marion-Dönhoff-Gymnasium in Nienburg, with our English teacher Simone Volkhausen and the project's mascot, a hedgehog.

Here we are again, this time in our classroom.

This is our school building; there are two parts, an old and a new one!

Here's the new building:

And this is part of the old building:

Our school is nicely located next to a pond.

Lots of students ride their bikes to school.

Please come in! This is our main entrance!

Mr. Hellmich is our headmaster. We had the chance to interview him. Please listen to what he told us about himself and about our school.

Now we would like to show you around and tell you about the various parts of our school.

Here you can see us sitting on a  bench inside our school building, but most of the time it's occupied by older students.

This is our assembly hall. It is used for concerts, theatre performances, conferences, and some Music lessons are held there too.

The substitution plan is very important. Please listen and find out why!

The next part we would like to show you is our library.

Please join us during our breaks. Whereas we usually spend our five-minute-breaks in our classroom, there are various possibilities for the 15- and 20-minute-breaks. We can stay inside the school building or go outside into the schoolyard.

This is our cafeteria where we can buy lots of nice things during the breaks. It is run by parents and offers different kinds of food every day.

Playing table tennis is our favourite activity during breaks. Other students play basketball or just hang around.

At the moment (November and December 2013) our schoolyard is under construction, so we can't play there.

The break is over now. Please join us in our PE lesson!

Now please listen to two students and to what they think about our school. They're students from grade 12 who are going to take their school leaving examination next spring.

This was a tour of our school. We hope you enjoyed it and that you like our school.
