We wish our friends in Nienburg a nice summer! We are going on summer holiday on 1 June :)

We have enjoyed working with you and our etwinning project has been a great experience. We have been a good team :)

Postcards from Finland

Thank you for your postcards from Germany which we received some time ago. 

Today we wrote our postcards for you. They are postcards of Helsinki, the capital city of Finland. We visited Helsinki at the beginning of May and made our area presentation on Helsinki, so you can learn more about Helsinki by reading it.

German postcards are crossing the Baltic Sea!!

Before working on the actual presentations of our towns, the Finnish and German students bought postcards with nice photos of their towns and sent them to their friends on the other side of the Baltic Sea.

We, the German students, sent them right before our Easter holidays and hope that they have reached you by now.

All quiet? -- NO!!

Student IDs

Our students on both sides of the Baltic Sea haven't been idle over the past weeks and months, but have eagerly worked on the creation of their IDs so as to get to know each other better.

Our students started by thinking about what they would like to know about their friends and suggested questions they considered interesting.
We, the teachers, compared the questions compiled by our students and agreed on ten of them and created the blank ID.
The Finnish and German students filled in the IDs and after having added a photo to each ID, they were uploaded onto the Twinspace.

Dear friends in Mäntsälä,

Thank you so much for the cute Christmas card and the yummy Finnish chocolate you sent us! We enjoyed tasting it and liked it a lot.

It was very interesting to find out that Finnish chocolate tastes different and that you have other flavours: We've never heard of or tasted chocolate with liquorice before.

Class 6b’s Christmas surprise for classes 5 and 6 from Saari primary school

As a part of our eTwinning project we, i.e. class 6b from Marion-Dönhoff-Gymnasium in Nienburg, had decided to introduce our new friends to another German Christmas tradition: Christmas cookies.

It is a German tradition to make your own Christmas cookies, so lots of us brought homemade cookies to class to send them to Finland. Others bought typical Christmas cookies like German “Lebkuchen” and “Spekulatius” (spicy Christmas cookies).

On 10^th December we packed and sent our surprise. It was great fun.

We hope you enjoy tasting and eating our cookies just as we enjoyed making and packing them! We’re looking forward to continuing our project in January and to learning more about Finland and Finnish traditions!
